Nigeria Directory Service Launched - September, 2007
Multi Dynamics Nigeria Limited is pleased to announce the birth
of a new online directory service titled "Nigeria
Directory Online". It is an absolutely free of charge service
that is implemented and supported by us.
The service aimed at providing up-to-date information - contacts,
products, services, fields of specialization, etc. on establishments
in Nigeria thereby positioning establishments in Nigeria for global
visibility. It is not like any other online directory service as
it overcomes the shortcomings and challenges posed by similar services.
Some of the distinctive features of Nigeria Directory Online Service
include:
- FREE to register and user service
- A hub for valid, comprehensive and up-to-date information about
establishments in Nigeria. Submissions are screened before it
is made available for public use.
- A well structured and easy means of accessing information on
establishments in Nigeria.
- Provision of adequate space for establishments to truly express
their activities - services, products, and much more.
- Content for submission could embed html, creating a better look
and feel and while providing a means to link to contents in order
locations.
- It has interface for users to update provided information at
any time. However, updates would require screening before it can
be made available for public use.

commentary, how to's, product reviews, etc. You can also volunteer
your time as a programmer for additional modules of the service;

part owner of the service or sponsor other projects that Multi
Dynamics Nigeria Limited is involved in.
In the course of developing the service, we sampled opinions, visited
numerous services. Complaints, challenges and opinions gathered
from users of similar services have helped to develop the service.

Some of the reasons that made us build this service include:
Obsolete information
Most other services that focus on Nigeria establishments house obsolete
information. You will be lucky to find up to 60% up-to-date information
- establishment names, address, phone and fax numbers, etc. This
problem resulted because data entry into such services is one-way,
giving no means of direct updating by those that provided the information.
In a situation of merger and acquisition, change of telephone and
fax numbers, office locations, etc it becomes impossible to update
provided information on such services.
To overcome the above, we have provided a means for establishments
to update their information as it may be necessary, thereby ensuring
a-better quality information for public use.
Inadequate information
Even when one is lucky to find correct contact addresses and telephone
numbers, there is no further information as to what establishments
specialize in. Imagine a family on a trip and in need of the services
of a pediatrician that merely found hospitals and clinics within
their location under health category without getting to know exactly
the specific hospitals that could offer the desired service. The
end result is a series of endless telephone calls, most of which
would end up with - "No we don't render such services" or "wrong
number or establishment.
We have provided additional fields to capture data that would help
users of this service to make timely decisions and in the process
save money and time.
Un-vetted information
Anyone that is conversant with web services often test a service
before trusting it. Meaning that users often enter test data that
conform to the service requirement. Our experience is such that
test data end up being published without verification. Multi Dynamics
Nigeria Limited is using in-house staff and an army of volunteers
to vet input data, ensuring that such establishment truly exists.
Localized information not available through search engines
Information on similar services is often localized and not accessible through major search engines. It is a common knowledge that search engines are the easiest and the most popular means of propagating information on the World Wide Web. We shall make available establishment information entered through this service to major search engines, ensuring that establishments can be located through this service and major search engines. This will also be an added benefit for establishment that does not have websites or have poorly implemented sites to gain better visibility.
Poor support
We have dedicated individuals to support this service including
an army of volunteers nationwide that have decided to support this
service. The aim is to provide support to service users. Our experience
with other online directory service providers is awful. Often, no
one provides the needed support. For example, if an establishment
should register within a service, the expectation is that the establishment
should be informed when their profile is approved, rejected or requires
additional information to be published.
The expectation is that we should be able to support users, ensuring
that those that need help get the needed support.
Un-availability of statistical data
Most similar services do not have means of telling when an establishment
page receives visits. Others merely implement hits, which often
leads to a bias statistics as it is difficult to differentiate between
a true hit and a page refresh. The provider of such information
finds it difficult to tell if such submission is helping to create
the needed visibility or not.
We have built the service to centre on data - who visited, when,
and from where. Establishments can easily tell how many visits received
over a period of time. Detailed statistics such as the geographical
location of visitors, and other detailed statistics can be obtained
from our support team on request. We have also provided a dynamics
graph that shows most visited establishments.
